Executive Dean in School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST), ShanghaiTech University
ShanghaiTech University invites applications for a full-time tenured school leader with rich administrative experience to be the Executive Dean of the School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST).This position reports to Dean.
The Position:
The Executive Dean reports to the Dean of SPST and assists the Dean in leading the development of the School to carry out the School’s mission and goals in alignment with ShanghaiTech’s strategic planning. The incumbent works closely with other school deans/executive deans, administrative heads and staff to achieve common goals and outcomes.
The Executive Dean assists the Dean in making long-term development planning for the school, which includes building the School’s faculty team, increasing the research capacity and developing the undergraduate and graduate education programs. The incumbent oversees the implementation of the planning and leads the administration of the school. Important administrative tasks include drawing up the budget plan, proposing the school’s yearly working plan, and organizing faculty recruitment activities. He or she liaisons with government agencies, fosters partnerships with industries and other institutions for cross-disciplinary collaboration and tech-transfer projects.
Qualification:
- PhD in one of the research focuses of the School.
- An outstanding track record of significant scholarship as evidenced by peer reviewed publications. The incumbent should have international stature and recognition commensurate with the rank of Professor.
- Significant experience in senior level administrative positions in a university or a research institute.
- Extensive knowledge of higher education, research and research funding in China and abroad.
- Strong communication skills
