Laura：

Tomorrow is Halloween. I know I'm ready. I bought two pumpkins and a big bag of candy. Do you want to help me make a jack-o'-lantern?

明天就是萬圣節(jié)前夕了。我都準(zhǔn)備好了。我買了兩個(gè)南瓜和一大袋糖果。你愿意幫我做個(gè)杰克燈嗎?

Mike：

I'd love to. I heard about Halloween when I was in Beijing. It's a kind of children's day. Small kids get dressed up, then walk around with paper bags or baskets knocking on their neighbor's doors. But what do they say when their neighbor answers?

很愿意啊。我在北京的時(shí)候就聽說過這個(gè)節(jié)日了。這是孩子們的節(jié)日。小孩們喬裝打扮好后就帶著紙袋或籃子四處敲鄰居們的門。但是當(dāng)他們的鄰居開門的時(shí)候，他們會(huì)對(duì)鄰居說什么呢?

Laura：

They're supposed to say "Trick or Treat". Then their neighbor is supposed to hand out some candy.

他們會(huì)說"想要惡作劇還是款待我一下"。然后，這些小孩的鄰居就會(huì)拿出一些糖果。

Mike：

That's kind of cool. But what does "Trick" mean?

真有意思。但是"惡作劇"都包括哪些內(nèi)容呢?

Laura：

Usually it's the older kids going around playing pranks, like punching the pumpkins left outside people's doors, or hanging a roll of toilet paper in someone's tree. They usually do it late at night after the little kids go home.

通常是一些比較大的孩子們到處走動(dòng)來搞一些惡作劇，比如說把鄰居門口的南瓜燈上戳幾個(gè)洞，或者給別人家的樹上掛上一卷衛(wèi)生紙。他們經(jīng)常在一些年齡較小的孩子回家后，趁著深夜干這些事

Mike：

It sounds kind of fun. Maybe I could get together with my friends that night.

這聽起來挺有意思的。也許那晚我也可以和我的朋友們聚在一起呢。

Laura：

Usually the adults who don't have kids have a big party and get dressed up too.

一些沒生小孩的成年人會(huì)舉辦一個(gè)大的派對(duì)，當(dāng)然也要喬裝打扮了。

Mike：

That does sound like a lot of fun.

這可太有趣了。
