Research Associate/Assistant Professor positions
Lab of Biological Engineering, Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS), China. Salary and position commensurate with qualifications.
Research Associate/Assistant Professor positions are open immediately in Prof. Elvassore’s Lab of Biological Engineering at Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS) in China (http://siais.shanghaitech.edu.cn/eng/research8.asp). SIAIS is an advanced antibody research center of ShanghaiTech University. The institute has state-of-the-art core facilities for high-throughput screening studies and analysis in biomedical research.
Elvassore’s lab main research interests are in the field of human pluripotent stem cells for the development of tissues-on-chip, and nuclear and cellular mechanotransduction in human cells. The lab develops microtechnologies to address specific biological questions and biomedical approaches, by accurately controlling soluble cell culture microenvironment and mechano-chemical stimulatory cues. We are seeking self-motivated scientists to join the lab and take part in this research.
Candidates should have a strong background in one of these disciplines:
—bioinformatics and high-throughput data analysis, both using standard methods and developing application-specific algorithms. Some experience with image analysis and wet-lab experience with sample preparation for high-throughput analyses (RNAseq, ChIPseq, 3C technologies...) is desired, but not mandatory.
—molecular biology applied to human research. Be familiar with stem cell research and with state-of-the-art technologies in the field.
—biology of pluripotent stem cells. Be familiar with signaling mechanisms underlying differentiation, self-renewal or regeneration; reprogramming or lineage conversion to enhance regeneration and regulation of endogenous stem cells.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, preferably with postdoctoral experience in a closely related field, and a strong record of research accomplishments. They should be able to conduct collaborative research and have excellent English communication skills. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, a curriculum vitae with a publication list and a research statement proposal (3-4 pages) in a single pdf file to siais@shanghaitech.edu.cn (cc: nicola.elvassore@shanghaitech.edu.cn). Please also arrange three reference letters to be sent directly to the above e-mail address. The positions remain open until filled.
